Benjamin Luzzatto
Born in Washington DC in 1970, Ben Luzzatto is an interdisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY, where he resides with his wife and three daughters. Ben completed his undergraduate work at Vassar College and earned a Master’s Degree in Visual Studies from MIT. After a stint teaching 3-D Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he joined the faculty of the Interdisciplinary Sculpture department at The Maryland Institute, College of Art, where he teaches now as the Chair of the Department. Ben’s work includes sculpture, architecture, engineering, and object design. His pedagogy is informed by his writing on the philosophy of language. Intimate relationships with timeless, natural systems and individual agency in the face of larger existential threats, like climate change, are at the center of Ben’s ever-growing practice.
